At 83, the British blues legend, John Mayall, shows no signs of slowing down! Let's all wish him a very happy birthday with many more to come. During my time with John, we created some magic musical moments. A Special Life was particularly personal for John and I Just Got To Know is one of my favorite tracks from that session. Enjoy!
When I was a kid, Jimi Hendrix was by far my favorite guitar player. As an adult, one of the many benefits of being friends with Buddy Miles, drummer for Band of Gypsys, was hearing his countless amazing and inspirational stories about playing with Jimi. So, imagine how thrilled and honored I was to be asked to record a Jimi Hendrix classic with the drummer who actually played with him. It was a rare and extraordinary experience.
Buddy Miles, Double Trouble and I paid our respects to Hendrix with our rendition of The Wind Cries Mary with Grammy Award winning producer, Jim Gaines at the wheel. This track was included on the album Blue Haze - Songs of Jimi Hendrix. For all you gear heads who are curious, I recorded this track using my all original 1960 Strat through a 1959 cream colored Bassman amp!

In 2002, Buddy Miles and SRV's rhythm section, Double Trouble, and myself went in the studio and created The Blues Berries album. We had a great time recording in Texas and this is one of my favorite tracks from the album. Please enjoy & share the good attitude with your friends!
Always remember that no matter what is going on in your life that "Life IS What You Make It" and smile and then turn it up LOUD & Play it AGAIN!
Clearly, John Lennon was (and is) my most influential artist. I spent my childhood mesmerized by him and my adulthood studying his artistry in song structure. This recording is the result of deconstructing Dear Prudence with Walter Watson. All of the tracks are performed solely by the two of us. Walter did an amazing job on all of the vocal parts. I handled all of the bass and guitar duties. Man....did we have a good time in the studio! Thank you, John and Happy Birthday!
